In English this term, we will begin by reading The Everywhere Bear and writing our own recounts about the adventures of our class bear Fred and his brother Tom. We will be practising correct sentence structure and the use of adjectives to add detail to our writing. We will also learn about rhyme and repetition through the stories of Julia Donaldson before creating our own narratives based on the book Traction Man.

In Maths, we will be beginning to follow our Maths - No Problem! scheme. We begin the year by revising our knowledge of counting, ordering and comparing numbers to 10. We will then move onto revising and using number bonds before learning methods of addition within 10. Throughout these units of work, the children will be developing their knowledge and understanding of numbers and mathematical vocabulary.

In Science, we will be learning about senses. We will learn to identify and name the basic parts of the human body and say which part of the body is associated with each sense. We will be practising using the scientific skills of predicting, observing, recording information and analysing our results.

In Topic, we will be learning about our local area. We shall be using aerial views and maps to identify places of interest and locate key features on a map of the local area. We will also learn to follow a route on a map and create our own simple symbols for a map.

In Art, we will be looking at complementary colours and their uses.

In Computing, our focus is 'Technology around us'. We will develop their understanding of technology and how it can help in our everyday lives. We will start to become familiar with the different components of a computer by developing our keyboard and mouse skills. We will also consider how to use technology responsibly, creating a variety of art work.
