Welcome to Elm Class.
The teacher for our class is Ms. Wells. Our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Baldwin (Monday to Thursday). Ms Beddoe also works in Elm class.
We are learning
In Literacy, we will be continuing to read Holes by Louis Sachar and will be making a link to a previous unit of work: The Vikings.
In Maths we will be continuing to prepare for SATs, with a particular focus on fractions, percentages, angles and properties of shape as well as volume and formal written methods for calculation.
In Science our topic will be Electricity, which links with our previous unit of work: The Victorians. In order to gain a wider range of writing, the children will be writing a biography and leaflet on this Science unit.
Things to look forward to
- Celebration to mark the end of SATs (18th May 2018) TBC
- Aladdin theatre production (14th June 2018)
P.E. is on Tuesdays and Thursdays but it is helpful to have P.E. kits in school all of the time.
Homework should be completed in your child’s homework/revision folder on a daily basis, to be marked in class the following day.
Monday/Tuesday – Maths
Wednesday – Grammar
Thursday/Friday - Reading. To make good progress in reading, children should read for at least 20 minutes daily.
Small pencil cases are welcome in class. They need to fit in your child’s tray. Useful equipment to have in class: a glue stick, a black and blue pen, a pencil, an eraser, a sharpener and a whiteboard pen.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us on our class email addresses if you have any concerns or questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
