Welcome to Ash Class.
In Ash class our teacher is Mr Oliveri, who is helped by Ms Ali, Mrs Akinwale, Mrs Golding and Mr Gallant.
We are learning
This term's Topic is Early Islamic Civilisation. As a history topic we will be looking at the contributions of this era to world history and making comparisons with the UK at a similar time. There is a geography topic link as we will be learning about the city of Baghdad.
In Science we are learning about Forces. We will think about the different forces acting on objects including Gravity and Friction. We will also look at new forms that friction can take include water and air resistance. Finally we will look at pulleys, levers and gears to explore how we can use forces to our advantage.
In English we are developing our writing skills. We are thinking about the basics of a good sentence and how we can use our writing to share our thoughts and ideas. We will be looking at strategies for spelling and grammar to help us to improve the quality of our written work.
In Maths we will strengthen our foundation of numbers by looking at place value, addition and subtraction with numbers of increasing value. We will work on strategies for using column method and renaming to help us to calculate answers quickly and accurately.
In Reading we continue to have regular independent reading in class to help the children with the decoding and fluency
During the week we have whole class reading sessions. These enable us to read a longer text as a whole class, making predictions, clarifying new words, summarising events and practising our comprehension skills.
Spelling will be given out on Mondays to be learnt for the following week.
Children will have a reading for pleasure book to take home. This book should be brought to school on Tuesday it can be changed whenever necessary if you or your child let a member of the class team know.
Forest school takes place on Friday afternoons. Children should wear their forest school clothes into school for the day.
P.E. lessons are on Friday mornings, with a session for the whole of Ash class. Children do not need to bring in a P.E. kit and will be able to take part in their forest school clothes. They should however wear trainers in to school on the day to make sure they are best prepared for PE.
Please do not hesitate to contact us on our class email address if you have any concerns or questions at email@example.com
However, if you need to speak to us directly about anything, then after school when you pick up your child is the best time.
Thank you for your continued support.
