Welcome to Willow Class.Your teacher is Mr Oliveri with the help of the teaching assistants Miss Rogers, Mrs Husain, Mrs Sutcliffe and Ms Ali.
We are learning
This term’s topic is the Ancient Egyptians. We will be learning about this civilisation and the impact that it has had on history. We will look at the pyramids and learn about how these amazing structures were built. We will learn about the discovery of different tombs and how this has given us the knowledge we now have about this early civilisation. We will also look at Egyptian hieroglyphics and even have a go at writing our own.
In Science we are learning about light. We will consider why light is important in helping us to see, why direct sunlight can be bad for our eyes and what we can do to protect them. We will think about how shadows are formed and experiment with different ways to change their size and shape. We will investigate how light behaves and think about how it bounces and reflects from different materials.
In English we are continuing to practise and develop our writing skills, we will learn how dialogue is shown in text and how it is used to enhance storytelling. We will also look at writing instructions, linking to our history topic with a guide to mummification.
In Reading we will continue our work on comprehension. Thinking about how we can use texts for research and looking for key information in writing, to answer retrieval questions.
Spellings will be given out on Tuesdays to be learnt for the following week.
Children should also be reading the book on the go books regularly and these can be exchanged on any day.
