Welcome to Willow class
Mr Oliveri (class teacher)
Our Teaching Assistants are Mrs Sutcliffe, Mrs Husain and Mrs Ali.
We are learning
This term's topic is plants.
We are learning about the parts of a plant and their function, why plants are important and what we use plants for. We are also learning to recognise local varieties of plants and trees.
In D&T we will use plants as the inspiration for different construction projects, including a plant themed headdress. In the humanities we are learning about plants in relation to history and geography. We are working to answer the questions; are plants the same all over the world and have plants been the same throughout history?
In our science lessons we are learning about light, including light sources, how shadow and reflection work and the importance of light.
In English we are working on improving our sentence structure and the content of our writing. We are using different texts and finding new ways to develop our sentences. We will also look at different writing styles and text types to build our writing skills.
Children need to bring their books and reading records daily. Please sign your child’s reading record when you hear them read. All books will be changed on Friday. Please indicate if you do not wish for it to be changed.
Spellings will be given out on Tuesdays to be learnt for the following week.
Willow class have Forest School on Thursdays and Friday afternoons. Please ensure that your child has their wellies and warm clothes, including gloves in school.
Children need to have a full PE in school each day.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us on our class email addresses if you have any concerns or questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
