Welcome to Sycamore class.
Miss Godwin will be taking you through Year 4.
We are learning
In English this term, we will be writing narratives using descriptive techniques and dialogue based around the text ‘Leon and the place between’. We will also be writing an information text inspired by ‘The fantastically great women who changed the world’. At the end of the term we will be exploring poetry in the style of Kenning poems.
In Maths, we will be continuing to follow our Maths No Problem scheme. We will be learning about Place value, addition and subtraction. We will be continuing to consolidate our knowledge of renaming and we will continue practising using these in different mathematical contexts.
In Science, we will be finding out about the digestive system. We will identify the different parts of the digestive system and their uses. We will be conducting many experiments to deepen our understanding of where our food goes.
In Topic, we will be learning about North America. We will explore the similarities and differences comparing North America to the UK and consider the push and pull factors that contribute to the farming around the continent. We will discuss what Native American life is like and identify different tribes.
Homework will be issued every Friday via Seesaw. Children are expected to complete weekly spellings, times tables and a maths task. Homework should be submitted to Seesaw by Tuesday.
In addition to these, children are expected to read daily and record this in their reading records. We ask that children have their reading records in school daily so we can record when we have heard them read and any comments.
PE lessons are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Due to limited space inside the classroom, we ask that you only send PE kit on these days. Children will be required to take their PE kit home after their second lesson.
Every child needs to bring their full PE kit including a top in their house team’s colour, clean socks and suitable trainers.
Water Bottles: Please ensure your child has a named water bottle in school. These must be taken home at the end of each day and returned the following day.
Please do not hesitate to contact us on our class email address if you have any concerns or questions at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you need to speak to us directly about anything, then after school when you pick up your child is the best time.
Thank you for your support.
