Welcome to Palm Class.
Your teacher is Miss Fowler and your teaching assistant is Miss Gillette.
Palm class have had so much fun over the Spring term exploring the fairy tale world, but we are ready for our next exciting adventure!
We are learning
In our Summer term we are going to become Explorers and learn all about the Sea and Our World.
We will be researching lots of different facts and learning how to use non-fiction books. We will also be sharing lots of stories, as well as having our focus books ‘Fidgety Fish’ by Ruth Galloway, ‘Julian is a mermaid’ by Jessica Love and many more. We will be continuing to develop our writing skills by writing for different purposes, for example, writing facts, character descriptions and using our imagination in writing narratives using lots of story language and a wide range of vocabulary.
Our phonics lessons have been going brilliantly; the children are now confidently applying the sounds they have learnt and are becoming more confident in their reading and writing. Phonics will continue in Summer term, we will be revisiting Phase 2, Phase 3 sounds and developing Phase 4 where the children learn how to blend and segment longer words.
In maths we will be exploring halving, doubling, grouping and money.
As well as this, we will be consolidating our learning in addition and subtraction, 2D and 3D shapes and problem solving.
The children will continue to use Bug club online to complete reading books at home. All pupils have moved up a colour band so they continue to be challenged at home as well as at school.
Forest School and PE will continue in the Summer term. As the weather is due to change over the coming months please ensure your child has appropriate clothing and ensure their wellies are in school.
Palm class Forest school is on a Monday. During the current COVID 19 pandemic, children should come to school dressed in their Churchfields uniform and Forest School clothing in a bag.
Palm class PE is on Wednesdays and again, children can wear their school PE kit all day.
Please do not hesitate to contact us on our class email address if you have any concerns or questions at firstname.lastname@example.org
However, if you need to speak to us directly about anything, then after school when you pick up your child is the best time.
Thank you for your support.
