Welcome to Baobab class.
In Baobab class, Miss Shortt is the class teacher and Mr Gallent is the Year 3 Teaching Assistant.
We are learning
In English this term, we begin by reading a range of picture books by authors such as Anthony Browne, Sarah Garland and Christopher Gregorowski.
In science this half term our topic is Lifestyle and Anatomy. We will be exploring questions such as, ‘Do athletes have certain characteristics?’ and ‘What type of nutrients do animals need?’.
In Maths we will be following our Maths No Problem curriculum. We will begin the term by exploring the place value of three-digit numbers. Then we will move on to using column method to solve addition and subtraction equations.
In topic this half term, we are focusing on geography. Our key question is ‘Does the UK have good weather?’. We will look at weather patterns around the world and use globes and torches to find out why we have seasons.
This year, homework and each week’s spellings will be set on Seesaw. Children are expected to read regularly and record this in their Reading Records. Please encourage your child to select a book to read from the book corner in the classroom and to choose a new book when they have finished each one. They must have their Reading Records in school every day
PE lessons are on Mondays and Thursdays. Every child needs to bring in a full PE kit including a top of their house team’s colour, clean socks and suitable trainers. Please make sure they also have a tracksuit for when the weather gets colder.
Please do not hesitate to contact me on our class email address if you have any concerns or questions at firstname.lastname@example.org
