Welcome to Apple Class.
Our class teacher is Mrs Jefferies and our teaching assistants are Miss Billings and Miss Power.
What we are learning
This term we are learning about ’Farms’ & ‘Mini Beasts’, followed by ‘Under the Sea’ & ‘Holidays’. We will be learning about different animals that live on a farm. Apple class will be building bug hotels so that we can look closely at some of the mini beasts.
In phonics we are continuing to learn to recognise our own name and the initial sound. We will be practicing our knowledge of the sounds that we have already mastered and begin to add new ones from phase 2.
In maths we are looking at measuring by length, weight and capacity. We will look at what equipment we need to make the measurements and use them in our activities. We will be making a chart to see how tall we are and compare how much we have grown in six weeks.
We will be continuing with making healthy choices for eating and what activities we could choose to do to keep us fit.
Supporting learning at home
Children can choose a book from the class book corner to take home to read and they can change these daily.
We also have some maths and phonics resources that the children can take and have a go at home with you.
We would ask that if these could be returned the following week so that everyone can have the same opportunity of sharing our class resources at home.
Please note that will be NO Forest School this half term as we will be creating our bug hotels in the nursery garden during that time.
Forest School will resume after the May half term break and I will update you as to the days/sessions that it will be running.
Please check the nursery noticeboard at the gate for all updates, newsletters and dates to remember.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us on our class email addresses if you have any concerns or questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your continued support!
