The music provision at Churchfields Primary School celebrates many levels of talent.
Through Bromley Youth Music Trust, we offer music lessons in piano, flute, violin, brass and guitar.
As well as music lessons taught by our specialist teacher from nursery up to year 6, we offer singing assemblies for EYFS/KS1 on Tuesday afternoons as well as one for KS2 on Thursday afternoons.
Learning is supported by educational visits including a trip to the London Symphony Orchestra and visiting workshop performances including Samba drumming and the Rock Steady Music Company.
A junior choir runs at lunchtime for the children in years 2 and 3 and there is a senior choir for children in years 4 5 and 6 after school on Fridays. Both choirs perform locally and more recently, the older children at the O2 arena in London.
There is an after school club dedicated to Musical Theatre for children from all across the school. Singing forms a large part in productions in early years, year 2, 4 and 6 whilst the children in year 5 perform at the Glades Shopping Centre in Bromley during the Christmas period.
Children in Year 3 all participate in learning to play the recorder as a whole class initiative culminating in an assembly in the summer term.
Music is celebrated through whole school performances and PTA events as well as at our annual Church service.
The children having instrumental lessons showcase their learning at an after school performance.
