Welcome to Cherry class
Miss Perry and Mrs Baldwin welcome you to Cherry class this year.
We are learning
This term we will be reading There’s a Boy in the Girls’ bathroom by Louis Sachar in English. We will be reading various types of texts, including poetry, plays and non-fiction to enhance reading fluency and writing.
In Maths, we are working on fractions, decimals and percentages. During the fractions unit, we will be adding, subtracting and multiplying mixed and improper fractions. In the decimal unit, we will be adding, subtracting, and converting them to fractions.
In our Topic lessons, we will be exploring rainforests. We will learn about the climate, the people, the animals and plants of rainforests, and why we need to take necessary measures to protect them.
In Science, we will be exploring a variety of forces through investigation and inquiry. We will learn to explain why objects fall towards the earth and the effects of air resistance, water resistance and friction on an object.
We have spelling tests every Friday morning. All spelling lists are stuck in their homework books for them to practise at home.
The homework guide is in their homework books. These books should be handed in on Wednesday mornings and they will be given back to take home again on Friday afternoons.
Daily Reading is to be recorded in reading record books. They should include a short description of what they read. The reading record books should be passed in with their homework on Wednesdays.
Children are encouraged to practise their times tables at home and at school. We will be testing these every Thursday.
P.E. is every Monday and Wednesday. Please ensure that your child always has their P.E. kit at school.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us on our class email address if you have any concerns or questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you need to speak to us directly about anything, then after school when you pick up your child is the best time.
Thank you for your support.
